The Anderson University men's swimming and diving team continued its historic season by edging Hanover College 97-96 during Saturday's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) dual in Hanover.
"Our men claimed their first HCAC dual meet victory of the season," Coach Tanner Barton said. "This victory over Hanover should not go unnoticed as Hanover outscored our team at the 2019 HCAC Championship."
Anderson (2-4, 1-3) secured the winningest season in the program's four-year history with the victory against Hanover (0-3, 0-2).
"This victory was truly a team effort. All of our men scored points individually and the 200 Medley Relay performed exceptionally well."
The Ravens fielded a 200-yard medley relay of Evan Kropf, Josh Ekberg, Kris Keller and Noah Scheffer, which claimed first place with a time of 1 minute, 42.16 seconds.
Ekberg captured first (2:10.32) in the 200 individual medley relay, earning the win by 0.05 seconds. The junior from Mahomet, Ill. also took first (1:03.70) in the 100 breaststroke.
Alex Cubellis secured first (1:00.40) in the 100 backstroke.
Scheffer took first in the 100 butterfly with a time of 55.42 seconds while Keller finished second the 100 butterfly with a time of 59.41 seconds.
Despite the win, the Ravens are looking to make adjustments for next week's meet.
"While I'm excited the men were able to squeeze out the victory, we cannot be content with how we swam. Our turns and finishes were subpar and the men must hold themselves to a higher standard moving forward. Our team discussed how we must continue to work hard. I expect the men to have better turns and stronger finishes next week at Wittenberg University."
Anderson clashes with Wittenberg University (0-6) next Saturday at 1 p.m. in Springfield, Ohio.
