Hayward Clinches Return to NCAA Diving Regionals

Anderson University men's swimming and diving junior Matthew Hayward clinched his return to the NCAA D-III Diving Regionals during Friday's dual in Bennett Natatorium.

Hayward recorded an 11-dive 1-meter diving score of 466.75 points and a season-best average of 42.43 points per dive. The junior from Fort Wayne secured his second career trip to the NCAA D-III Diving Regionals by hitting the 11-dive 1-meter diving NCAA 'B' Qualifying Standard of 425.00 points for the second time this season. Hayward has hit the annual qualifying criteria in each of his three seasons of competition, but the diving regionals were cancelled during his freshman season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Anderson (4-3, 3-2) cruised past Bluffton University (0-7, 0-3) by a score of 136-21 during Friday's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) dual.
