The Anderson University men's swimming and diving team swept the relay races during Saturday's dual against Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio.
Wittenberg (1-6) topped Anderson (2-5) with a 104-82 victory.
"Even though we weren't able to secure the team dual meet win, our men were victorious in both of the relays," Coach Tanner Barton said. "They made a strong statement with their relay performances."
The Ravens put together a 400-yard medley relay of Andrew Taflinger, Josh Ekberg, Noah Scheffer and Evan Kropf which captured first place of 3 minutes, 54.68 seconds. Anderson then fielded a 200 freestyle relay of Kropf, Kris Keller, Taflinger and Scheffer which also locked up first (1:32.20).
Bryce Holt and Taflinger compiled a 1-2 finish in the 200 backstroke. Holt earned first (2:08.84) while Taflinger claimed second (2:20.94).
Anthony Stultz raced to three personal records. The freshman from New Palestine clocked times of 12:33.92 in the 1,000 freestyle, 6:04.86 in the 500 freestyle and 28.37 seconds in the 50 freestyle.
Wil Lashbrook finished the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:54.20.
As the season progresses, the Ravens look to move back to full strength in numbers.
"Now is the time when we must continue to take care of our bodies and prevent ourselves from getting sick. Unfortunately, not all of our men were able to compete [on Saturday]. I look forward to having our entire team practice and compete at full strength."
Anderson hosts Bethel University (Ind.) (2-7) for Senior Day next Saturday at 2 p.m. in Bennett Natatorium.
"Next week, we celebrate our lone male senior, Andrew Taflinger. Andrew was an inaugural member of the AU Swimming Team and he has continued to be a strong leader for the program. I hope our campus community will come out to watch him and the rest of the team race on Saturday."
