Bio

Coach Leyva's primary responsibilities include working with the outfielders, heading up the recruitment of student-athletes, assist in team strategy and operations and oversee the administration of our instructional camps.

Coach Leyva comes to AU with 20 years coaching experience at various levels. He has served the last seven years as the varsity assistant at Pendleton Heights High School responsible for outfielders, base running, and was the Arabians third base coach.

Prior to Pendleton, Leyva was a seven-year assistant at Anderson Highland High School, including three with AU head coach Matt Bair. In addition to high school baseball, coach Leyva has spent the last seven summers coaching travel baseball for the Indiana Blue Jays, Indiana Bulls, Indiana Outlaws, and Indiana Magic organizations. Coach Leyva also spent 2015 as an associate scout for the Kansas City Royals. 

He is a 1995 graduate of Anderson Madison Heights High School and a 2000 graduate of Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business and currently works for IBM as a Systems Engineer. A resident of Pendleton, Leyva and his wife Julie have three children; Mia, Izzy, and Cruz.
