The Anderson University baseball team turned in a split with Hanover College during Saturday's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) doubleheader in Hanover.
Hanover (15-12, 15-12) scored five runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to seal a 7-6 win in Game 1 with the help of a Charlie Burton grand slam and a walk-off RBI single by Eric Roudebush. The Ravens (14-9, 14-9) claimed a 7-5 victory in Game 2. Branton Sanders (Whiteland, Ind./Whiteland) smashed two home runs during the doubleheader.
GAME 1: HANOVER 7, ANDERSON 6
Sanders went 2-for-3 with a double and a two-run blast. Justin Reed (Martinsville, Ind./Martinsville) went 2-for-4 with a double. Jason Hall-Manley (New Palestine, Ind./New Palestine) smashed a solo homer. Jonathan Willoughby (Speedway, Ind./Speedway) produced two RBIs and a single. T.J. Price (Anderson, Ind./Daleville) put together a double while Bennie Day (Charlestown, Ind./Jeffersonville) rounded out Anderson's eight hits with a single. Kasey Henderson (Muncie, Ind./Cowan) struck out six batters, yielded four walks and allowed one run on five hits in seven innings.
GAME 2: ANDERSON 7, HANOVER 5
Sanders finished 2-for-5 with a solo homer. Reed also crushed a solo blast. Willoughby went 2-for-5. Price ripped a double while Hall-Manley, Tyler Burton (Knightstown, Ind./Knightstown) and Rene Casas Jr. (Pendleton, Ind./Pendleton Heights) rounded out Anderson's nine hits with singles. Hall-Manley, M.J. Furnish (Fishers, Ind./Heritage Christian) and Casas Jr. also tallied RBIs.
Evan Doan (Frankton, Ind./Frankton) (2-0) earned the win. He punched out 11 batters, issued a walk and gave up four runs on seven hits in seven innings. Clayton White (Greenfield, Ind./Eastern Hancock) captured his first save of the season. He fanned three batters and allowed one run on two hits in two innings.
