Anderson University baseball senior Justin Reed broke the Anderson career doubles record with 55 doubles during Tuesday’s Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) doubleheader against Hanover College on Tuesday at Grand Park in Westfield.

Anderson University baseball senior Justin Reed broke the Anderson career doubles record with 55 doubles during Tuesday's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) doubleheader against Hanover College on Tuesday at Grand Park in Westfield.
Reed tallied two doubles in the doubleheader, breaking the previous school record of 53 set by 1990 graduate Brian Heigle.
The Ravens (20-16, 9-9) fought past the Panthers (13-22, 7-11) on a walk-off wild pitch by a score of 17-16 in Game 1. Hanover secured a 9-5 win in Game 2.
In Game 1, Anderson produced seven doubles, which ranks in the top 10 in school history.
GAME 1: ANDERSON 17, HANOVER 16
- Hanover took a 5-0 lead in the top of the first innings, which included a two-run home run from Alex Christie.
- The Ravens matched Hanover's 5 runs in the bottom of the first, which included a two-run double from Tyler Smitherman.
- After the second was completed in a 6-6 tie, Hanover plated four runs in the third and three runs in fourth to go ahead 13-6.
- Trailing Hanover 14-8, Anderson scored eight runs in the seventh. Trey Dorton scored on an error after Grahm Reedy stole second. Connor Gordon, Charlie Jones and Justin Reed each doubled in runs. With Anderson trailing Hanover 14-12 with the bases loaded, Rene Casas Jr. singled in Tyler Smitherman. On the same play, an error was committed, allowing Justin Reed and Griffin Wolf to score and Rene Casas Jr. to advance to third. Trey Dorton rounded out the scoring with an RBI single.
- With two outs in the ninth, Connor Farnsley cracked a two-run single to tie the game at 16-16.
- Hanover retired Anderson's first two batters in the ninth. Rene Casas Jr. provided a double. Trey Dorton singled to put runners on the corners.
- Casas Jr. scored off a wild pitch from Wyatt Prather for a walk-off victory.
