Ravens Split with Britons

The Anderson University baseball team split with Albion College during Tuesday's doubleheader at Don Brandon Field.

Anderson (6-3) made its return to Don Brandon Field after last competing on its home field in 2018. The Ravens captured a 5-0 victory in Game 1. Albion (6-3) took a 12-7 win in Game 2. Anderson is receiving votes in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) poll.

GAME 1: ANDERSON 5, ALBION 0

Joe Moran went 3-for-4 with a run. Justin Reed finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a double. Nick Jones went 2-for-4 with two runs and two stolen bases. Adam Paschal and Branton Sanders rounded out Anderson's nine hits with singles. Sanders also stole a base. Hunter Cornelius, Moran and Sanders each plated runs.

Kasey Henderson (2-1) earned the win. He struck out five batters, issued one walk and gave up zero runs on three hits in three innings. Jackson Bland picked up his first save of the season. He fanned three batters, yielded zero walks and allowed zero runs on one hit in three innings. Moran punched out six batters, conceded zero walks and allowed zero runs on one hit in three innings.

GAME 2: ALBION 12, ANDERSON 7

Sanders went 2-for-5 with two runs, a double and an RBI triple. The senior first baseman from Whiteland swiped four bases for the Ravens. Jones finished 4-for-5 with a double and a run. Willoughby belted a two-run double, going 2-for-5 with a run. Thomas Parker finished 2-for-5 with a run. Grant Thompson smacked a triple and plated a run. Moran rounded out Anderson's 12 hits with a single. Reed and Tyler Burton each knocked in runs on sacrifice flies. Moran also notched an RBI. Leo Marrero added a run.

Jordan May tallied a strikeout, walked a batter and gave up zero runs on zero hits in two innings. Kennedy Parker struck out two batters while Andrew Rolfsen and Walker Stull each added a strikeout.

UP NEXT

The Ravens begin their Spring Break Trip on Saturday in Auburndale, Fla. on Diamond No. 4 at Lake Myrtle Sports Park. Anderson clashes with No. 20 Webster University (5-5) at 1:15 p.m. The Ravens then take on the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (0-3-1) at 4:45 p.m. UW-La Crosse is receiving votes nationally.
