Eleven-Run Innings Propel Anderson Past Alma
The Anderson University baseball team recorded 11-run innings in both games of Tuesday’s doubleheader at Don Brandon Field to sweep Alma College.

The Anderson University baseball team recorded 11-run innings in both games of Tuesday's doubleheader at Don Brandon Field to sweep Alma College.
Anderson (10-5) earned a 16-14 victory against Alma (4-12-1) in Game 1. The Ravens then posted a 16-6 win in seven innings in Game 2.
In Game 1, the Scots scored six runs in the fourth inning and four runs in the fifth to take a 10-4 lead. In the top of the seventh, Tristen Brooks entered the game with Anderson trailing 11-5 and Alma had the bases loaded with two outs. Brooks struck out the batter to end the inning.
In the bottom of the seventh, Anderson responded with an 11-run inning. Justin Reed came up to bat with the Ravens trailing 11-10 with two outs and two runners on and Reed hit a fly ball to right field. Alma's right fielder almost completed a diving catch to end the inning, but the ball came out when he hit the ground, resulting in a two-run double for Reed. The Ravens added four more runs to finish the inning with a 16-11 lead through seven innings.
With two outs in the top of the ninth, Cameron Bleasdale, Dalton D'Alexander and Wyatt Nyswaner each recorded RBI's to cut the deficit to 16-14. Nolan Chilcutt provided a single to put two runners on with two outs. Kevin Tuttle came up to the plate as the go-ahead run, but Tuttle grounded out and the Ravens took Game 1.
In Game 2, Anderson plated 11 runs in the third to take a 12-0 lead. The Scots added five runs in the fourth to trim the lead to 12-5.
In the bottom of the seventh, Cooper Webb came to the plate with a runner on second and a 15-6 lead. Webb laid down a bunt and reached on a single. The pitcher's throw went past the first baseman and Griffin Wolf scored a run to clinch the win by mercy rule.
