Anderson Sweeps Mount St. Joseph, Clinches HCAC Tournament Berth

The Anderson University baseball team swept Mount St. Joseph University to clinch a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Tournament berth during Sunday's HCAC doubleheader at Hayden Field in Cincinnati.

Anderson (23-17, 12-10) rallied past Mount St. Joseph (15-24, 5-17) by a score of 17-12 in Game 1. The Ravens fought past the Lions 10-7 in Game 2.

In Game 1, Anderson trailed Mount St. Joseph by one run in the top of the ninth inning and managed to plate six runs. After both Justin Reed and Griffin Wolf reached as results of errors to lead off the inning, Trey Dorton was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Rene Casas Jr. and Grahm Reedy followed up by drawing bases-loaded walks. In the same inning, Connor Gordon and Reed contributed two-run singles.

 Fifth-seeded Anderson opens the HCAC Tournament with fourth-seeded Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (21-19) on Thursday at 1:15 p.m. at Kokomo Municipal Stadium in Kokomo.
