COACH TONY HOLLOWAY'S COMMENTS
- Going in, we warmed up pitchers to see who might be feeling like they can go. Molly Buck actually hadn't thrown in the last six games. We decided to go with her and I think she threw extremely well.
- I thought 12 hits in Game 1 was really good. After Manchester tied the game 3-3, M.J. Harper came in and laid a sacrifice bunt down. Then they had that wild throw to third base on the return to getting M.J. out, which allowed us to score the go-ahead run. Then Molly had a big strikeout in the circle to win the game.
- Game 2, we jumped out, then let them back in to tie it 1-1. Then, we found our bats. At one point, we had four hits in a row.
- Braelynn Hattendorf threw really well. She only had three walks. Our defense in the first inning kept things at bay. They got two people on. They got a ball up the middle, we got the force at second, they tried to send her home and Belle Blickenstaff threw her out at the plate to snap their momentum.
- We took a 3-1 lead. I told our team, don't let Manchester hang around, let's try to bury this game. It was one more inning than I wanted to; I was hoping we could end it in five, but we still got the job done.
- Braelynn provided us with another complete game. It's the first time all year our pitching staff provided us with two complete games in a doubleheader. It comes at a good time. We got to Calvin [on Thursday] and the remainder of our pitching staff is fresh now.
- This was two good wins against Manchester, who entered [Wednesday] fourth in the conference standings.
