Transylvania University swept the Anderson University softball team during Saturday's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) doubleheader in Lexington, Ky.
The Pioneers (26-8, 14-2) put together 8-0 wins in five innings in both games.
Alysa Marcin (Elkhart, Ind./Concord) provided a single in Game 1. Alexis Bean (Alexandria, Ind./Alexandria-Monroe) gave up zero hits and one walk in two scoreless innings.
Ashley Wheeler (Mahomet, Ill./Mahomet-Seymour) and Anna Jones (Lebanon, Ind./Western Boone) contributed singles in Game 2 while Ally Hall (Pendleton, Ind./Pendleton Heights) stole a base.
Anderson (13-19, 9-7) earned the No. 3 seed in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Tournament. The Ravens will open the conference tournament against second-seeded Mount St. Joseph University (27-8) on Thursday at 12 p.m. in Lexington, Ky. Mount St. Joseph is receiving votes in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) NCAA Division III poll.
