The Anderson University softball team fell to Linfield University and Asbury University during the Pioneer Classic on Friday at Elizabethtown Sports Park in Elizabethtown, Ky.
Anderson (0-2) suffered an 18-1 loss to Linfield (10-2) in five innings to open the day. Asbury (4-13) then edged the Ravens 2-1. Linfield entered Friday's contest ranked No. 11 in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) NCAA D-III poll.
NO. 11 LINFIELD 18, ANDERSON 1 (F/5)
Linfield rolled to an 18-1 win, which was highlighted by a 10-run third inning. The Wildcats outhit the Ravens 16-1. Lexi Rankin singled in Hope Smith in the bottom of the first inning. In the pitcher's circle, Rankin (0-1) suffered the loss. She issued two walks and allowed eight runs (seven earned) on eight hits in two innings.
