Ravens Race Past Belles

The Anderson University softball team swept St. Mary's College (Ind.) during Tuesday's doubleheader in Notre Dame.

Anderson (3-13) raced past the Belles (5-9) by a score of 10-2 in Game 1. The Ravens then fought to an 11-8 win in eight innings in Game 2.

HOW IT HAPPENED

In Game 1, Hope Smith became just the second Raven in school history to steal four bases in a game. As a team, the Ravens stole 11 bases, which ties for second for most stolen bases in a single game in school history. Anderson stole at least 11 bases two other times in school history during Anderson's 1989 season.

In Game 2, the Belles jumped out to a 6-1 lead after four innings. Entering the top of the sixth inning down 6-2, the Ravens capitalized on a four-error inning to plate five runs and take a 7-6 lead. During the bottom of the seventh, Alexis Rauch cranked a solo home runs to tie the game at 7-7. Anderson posted four runs in the eighth to seal an 11-8 victory. Lexi Rankin earned the win in both games for the doubleheader.
