The Anderson University softball team cruised past Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology during Thursday's non-conference doubleheader in Terre Haute.
Anderson (8-14) put together an 11-1 victory in five innings in Game 1. The Ravens then topped the Fightin' Engineers (8-17) with a 3-2 win in Game 2.
GAME 1: ANDERSON 11, ROSE-HULMAN (F/5)
Chloe Closser (Pendleton, Ind./Pendleton Heights) went 3-for-4 with a double, a triple and four RBIs. Aimee Cook (Anderson, Ind./Anderson Preparatory Academy) finished 2-for-2. Jayden Brown (Pendleton, Ind./Pendleton Heights), Kyleigh Lowry (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville) and Faith Muterspaugh (Middletown, Ind./Shenandoah) each produced doubles while Katelynn Campbell (Indianapolis, Ind./Lutheran), Taylor Johnson (Danville, Ind./Covenant Christian), Ally Hall (Pendleton, Ind./Pendleton Heights) and Alysa Marcin (Elkhart, Ind./Concord) rounded out Anderson's 12 hits with singles. Johnson, Brianna Bell (Pendleton, Ind./Pendleton Heights), Muterspaugh, Hall and Cook each drove in runs.
Cook (1-1) put together the win. She struck out two batters and allowed one run on eight hits in five innings.
GAME 2: ANDERSON 3, ROSE-HULMAN 2
Ashley Wheeler (Mahomet, Ill./Mahomet-Seymour) went 2-for-3 with an RBI single. Samantha Herron (Muncie, Ind./Delta), Anna Jones (Lebanon, Ind./Western Boone) and Arial Keown (Beech Grove, Ind./Beech Grove) rounded out Anderson's five hits with singles.
Makayla Durick (Greenfield, Ind./Greenfield-Central) (2-0) secured the win. She issued one walk and gave up one run on six hits in four and two-thirds innings. Alexis Bean (Alexandria, Ind./Alexandria-Monroe) picked up her first save of the season. She fanned one batter and surrendered an unearned run on two hits in two and one-third innings.
