Grizzlies Edge Ravens for Sweep in Doubleheader
On Tuesday, the Anderson University softball team hit the road to take on the Grizzlies of Franklin College in a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader in Franklin. The Ravens (9-17, 5-5) fell to the Grizzlies (17-9, 6-4) in both games.

On Tuesday, the Anderson University softball team hit the road to take on the Grizzlies of Franklin College in a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader in Franklin. The Ravens (9-17, 5-5) fell to the Grizzlies (17-9, 6-4) in both games.
The Grizzlies took Game 1 8-0 in five innings. Game 2 saw the Ravens lead for most of the game before the Grizzlies got the winning run in the bottom of the seventh, taking a 4-3 victory over the Ravens.
In Game 1, Jayden Brown doubled into center field in the first inning. During the second, Faith Muterspaugh singled into right field. Alysa Marcin followed with a sac fly, sending Muterspaugh to second.
In Game 2, the Ravens got on the board first with two runs in the top of the second. On a throwing error, Ashley Wheeler reached first, Lexi Rankin advanced to third, and Ally Hall scored. On the next pitch, Taylor Johnson singled, allowing Brianna Bell to advance to third and Rankin to score. The Ravens lead didn't last long as the Grizzlies brought in three runs in the bottom of the second. In the third inning, the Ravens tied the game up 3-3 when Arial Keown took advantage off an error and stole home. The next four innings would remain tied between the Ravens and Grizzlies. A Grizzlies single in the seventh inning brought in one run to close out the game.
The Ravens have six games scheduled for the remainder of the 2021 regular season. Anderson will be back in action on Friday in their final non-conference double header as they head to Alma, Mich. to take on the Scots of Alma College (20-12). First pitch in Game 1 is set for 3 p.m. with Game 2 set to follow.
