The Anderson University softball team put together a split with Hanover College during Saturday's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) doubleheader at the Raven Softball Field.
Hanover (7-12, 4-2) captured a 3-1 win in Game 1 while Anderson (6-14, 4-4) took a 6-4 victory in Game 2.
GAME 1: HANOVER 3, ANDERSON 1
Jayden Brown (Pendleton, Ind./Pendleton Heights) went 2-for-4 with a double. Ally Hall (Pendleton, Ind./Pendleton Heights) contributed an RBI double while Mickala Winans (Anderson, Ind./Pendleton Heights) tallied a double. Aimee Cook (Anderson, Ind./Anderson Preparatory Academy) struck out a batter and allowed two hits in two scoreless innings.
GAME 2: ANDERSON 6, HANOVER 4
Samantha Herron (Muncie, Ind./Delta) went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Alysa Marcin (Elkhart, Ind./Concord) finished 2-for-3. Brown produced a run-scoring triple while Hall ripped a triple. Kyleigh Lowry (Noblesville, Noblesville) belted a double and Taylor Johnson (Danville, Ind./Covenant Christian) recorded an RBI single. Faith Muterspaugh (Middletown, Ind./Shenandoah) rounded out Anderson's nine hits with a single.
Alexis Kern (Elkhart, Ind./Concord) (3-5) secured the win. She struck out a batter, issued two walks and gave up four runs (three earned) on three hits in five and two-thirds innings. Lexi Rankin (Greenfield, Ind./Greenfield-Central) picked up her third save of the season. She gave up one hit in one and one-third scoreless innings.
