Mount St. Joseph University powered past the Anderson University softball team during Saturday's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) doubleheader at the Raven Softball Field.
The Lions (23-9, 8-0) shut out Anderson (8-20, 3-7) by a score of 11-0 in six innings. Mount St. Joseph then recorded a 13-2 win in five innings in Game 2.
Mount St. Joseph outhit Anderson 13-1 in Game 1. Maddie Schoenradt provided a single. Molly Buck (2-9) was hit with the loss. She struck out two batters, gave up two walks and surrendered 10 runs (seven earned) on 11 hits in five and two-thirds innings.
In Game 2, Anderson tied Mount St. Joseph 2-2 through two innings. Mount St. Joseph then plated 11 unanswered runs to secure the win. The Lions outhit the Ravens 9-6 in Game 2. Alayna Hart belted a two-run triple. Kylie Sloan contributed a double while Saige Fellers, Mia Reinhard, Brook Reaves and Schoenradt added singles.
Lexi Rankin (6-8) was tagged with the loss. She fanned three batters, issued three walks and allowed seven runs (four earned) on five hits in two innings. Alexis Bean stuck out one batter, walked zero batters and yielded one hit in one and one-third scoreless innings.
Anderson battles Adrian College (22-10) in a doubleheader on Monday at 3 p.m. in Adrian, Mich.
