Trine University took a doubleheader against the Anderson University softball team on Wednesday in Angola.
The Thunder (2-0) fought past the Ravens (0-4) by a score of 3-2 in eight innings in Game 1. Trine then turned in an 8-1 win in Game 2. Trine is tied for 22nd in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) NCAA Division III poll.
GAME 1: T-22 TRINE 3, ANDERSON 2 (F/8)
Following international tiebreaker rules, each team started with a runner on second during the eighth inning. The Thunder faced a bases-loaded situation with two outs in the eighth and Emersyn Haney drove in the winning run.
Jayden Brown (Pendleton, Ind./Pendleton Heights) went 2-for-2 with a walk. Ariel Lee (West Manchester, Ohio/National Trail) finished 2-for-3. Faith Muterspaugh (Middletown, Ind./Shenandoah) rounded out Anderson's five hits with a single. Amanda White (Pendleton, Ind./Pendleton Heights) and Chloe Closser (Pendleton, Ind./Pendleton Heights) each drove in runs.
GAME 2: T-22 TRINE 8, ANDERSON 1
Muterspaugh produced a double while Alysa Marcin (Elkhart, Ind./Concord) contributed an RBI single. Brown, Ally Hall (Pendleton, Ind./Pendleton Heights), Lee and Kyleigh Lowry (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville) rounded out Anderson's six hits with singles.

Anderson travels to Great Crossing Ball Park in Georgetown, Ky. to begin the Pioneer Classic. The Ravens battle Wittenberg University (4-2-1) on Saturday at 11 a.m. Anderson then challenges No. 7 DePauw University (10-0) at 4 p.m.
