Anderson University men's basketball standout Maurice Knight was tabbed the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Player of the Week, which was announced by the conference on Monday.
Knight notched 22 points, 10 rebounds in six blocks as the Ravens (3-5, 1-1) captured an 82-55 victory against Mount St. Joseph University (3-7, 1-2). The junior from Frankton recorded each of his six blocks in the first half to key Anderson to 43-26 lead at halftime. Knight converted 9-of-14 (64.3 percent) shots from the field. He is the first player to block six shots in a game since Andrew Bowman in 2012.
During the contest, the Ravens held Mount St. Joseph to a 33.9-percent (19-of-56) field-goal percentage and a 6.3-percent (1-of-16) shooting clip from behind the arc.
Among HCAC leaders, Knight currently ranks first in points per game (19.0), first in blocks per game (1.88) and third in rebounds per game (7.9). As a team, Anderson leads the conference with 4.5 blocks per game.
The Ravens take on Defiance College (7-1, 2-0) in HCAC action on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in O.C. Lewis Gymnasium. Anderson then battles Olivet College (1-5) in non-conference action on Saturday at 3 p.m.
