Ravens Race Past Yellow Jackets

The Anderson University men's basketball team (14-8, 12-3) raced past Defiance College (6-16, 1-14) by a score of 102-84 during Wednesday's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) matchup in O.C. Lewis Gymnasium.

COACH CARTER COLLINS'S COMMENTS

I'm proud of our effort in this one. I felt like we were really on our game offensively - we did a great job of searching for the right opportunity to attack, and consistently made the right shoot/pass decision on our drives. Defensively, we did an effective job of limiting their attempts from three-point range, which really hurt us the first game against them at their place. We need to stay focused - we have a massive game at our place against Transylvania on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Anderson attempted 31 3-point attempts while Defiance was held to 14 3-point attempts. The Yellow Jackets drained 8-of-14 (57.1 percent) shots from 3-point range while the Ravens knocked down 12-of-31 (38.7 percent) attempts from the perimeter.
• Defiance outscored Anderson 17-16 on fast-break points.
• The Ravens knocked down 39-of-69 (56.5 percent) shots from the field while the Yellow Jackets converted 35-of-67 52.2 percent) attempts from the floor.
• Anderson outrebounded Defiance 39-26.
• The Ravens outscored the Yellow Jackets 21-18 off turnovers.
• Anderson hit 12-of-18 (66.7 percent) attempts from the free-throw line while Defiance made 6-of-9 (66.7 percent) shots from the charity stripe.
