Anderson Withstands Lions’ Second-Half Surge
The Anderson University men’s basketball team (3-5, 1-0) withstood Mount St. Joseph University’s (1-5, 0-2) second-half surge to secure a 67-65 victory during Saturday’s Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) contest in O.C. Lewis Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Anderson held a 36-27 lead at halftime. The Ravens led the Lions 47-30 with 16 minutes, 26 seconds remaining.
- The Lions made it back within striking distance after putting together a 16-2 during the next 5:34 to cut the deficit to 49-46.
- Jack Kolar knocked down a 3-pointer to tie the game at 58-58 with 5:36 remaining. Trey Dunn dished out his 10th assist of the game with that basket.
- Anderson responded with a 7-0 run. Camden Smith hit a free throw, Gavin Dowling made a bucket-and-1 and Fred Shropshire drained a three.
- The Ravens scored their final points at 3:29 remaining to go ahead 67-61. The Lions scored and cut the score to 67-63 on the next possession, but they came up empty on the following three possessions.
- With 1.8 seconds to go, Kelvin Turner was fouled while shooting a 3-pointer. He made his first two free throws, needing an offensive rebound to tie the game, Turner missed the third free throw, but Tate Ivanyo collected the rebound to seal the win.

We were far from perfect [on Saturday], but were good enough in stretches to get the job done against a good Mount St. Joseph squad. We need to continue to work on playing a full 40 minutes - that will be key for us to get to where we want to be.
