The Anderson University men's basketball team provided lights-out shooting in a 94-70 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) victory against Manchester University on Wednesday in O.C. Lewis Gymnasium.
Anderson (12-12, 9-8) drained 32-of-51 (62.7 percent) shots from the field and 10-of-16 (62.5 percent) attempts from 3-point range. The Ravens tied for seventh for the highest single-game 3-point field-goal percentage in school history and posted the highest single-game 3-point field-goal percentage since the Ravens made 64 percent of their 3-pointers against Adrian College Nov. 17, 2017.
With the victory, Anderson clinched a berth to the HCAC Tournament for the fourth consecutive year.
"Obviously, this is a big win for our team, in locking up our conference tournament bid," Coach Owen Handy said. "But more importantly, we have played really well for two games in a row. We've been talking about making sure we are playing our best at the end of the season, and right now it certainly feels like we are doing that."
Anderson knocked down 20-of-25 (80 percent) shots from the free-throw line while Manchester made 10-of-14 (71.4 percent) attempts from the charity stripe.
The Ravens committed 20 turnovers while the Spartans turned the ball over 18 times. Manchester outscored Anderson 27-19 off turnovers. The Spartans also held a 12-4 advantage in fast-break points.
Manchester finished plus-eight on offensive rebounds, but both teams scored six second-chance points apiece.
"If you had told me coming in that we'd turn it over 20 times, give up 13 offensive rebounds, and give up several threes in transition, I would have told you this would be a dog fight the last five minutes, but we were so efficient offensively and consistently took really great shots."
Maurice Knight led the Ravens with 23 points. The 6-foot-4 junior wing from Frankton converted 6-of-8 (75 percent) shots from the field, 8-of-10 (80 percent) attempts from the free-throw line and each of his three 3-point attempts.
Ronny Williams notched 18 points, nine rebounds and five assists. The 5-foot-8 junior guard from Anderson sank 7-of-9 (77.8 percent) shots from the floor.
Austin Lyons produced 16 points. Malik Laffoon contributed 15 points, five assists and two blocks. Michael Rogers put together eight points. Larry Johnson provided six points. Dalton DuBois scored four points. Jalen Johnson and Riley Reutener rounded out Anderson's scoring effort with two points apiece.
The Ravens host Mount St. Joseph University (6-18, 4-13) on Senior Day in HCAC action on Saturday at 3 p.m. in O.C. Lewis Gymnasium.
