COACH CARTER COLLINS'S COMMENTS
Transylvania REALLY tested our toughness and resolve in the second half, and they nearly pulled off a huge comeback, but our guys stayed together and made a couple huge plays down the stretch to close the deal. Next up, we have a road game at Rose-Hulman - always a tough place to get a win - with a chance to clinch a share of the conference title on the line. All you can ask for this time of year is the chance to play meaningful games late in the season, and we've earned this opportunity with the hard work we've put in since October.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Anderson built a lead as large as 50-31 before entering halftime with a 50-35 advantage.
- The Pioneers steadily chipped away in the second half until they cut their deficit to 82-81 with 2 minutes, 8 seconds remaining.
- Hunter Penn came up with a key block for Transylvania to set up a transition play, but Elijah Mattingly delivered a critical block to give Anderson the ball back. Camden Smith was immediately fouled and hit two free throws.
- Bryson Huckeby recorded a steal on the following possession and Tate Ivanyo was fouled in transition. Ivanyo hit both free throws to put the Ravens ahead 86-81.
- After Transylvania came up empty on its following possession, Mattingly delivered a dagger 3-pointer to put Anderson ahead 89-81 with 26 seconds remaining.
- Smith punctuated the game with a fast-break dunk at the buzzer for the Ravens.
