Knight Sets Single-Season Blocking Record in Anderson Division III Era

Hanover College (16-6, 10-5) handed Anderson (10-12, 7-8) a 73-46 loss during Wednesday's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) matchup in Hanover.
"There were some positives for us [on Wednesday], but not enough of them." Coach Owen Handy said. "I thought we defended really well in the first half, and we rebounded it pretty well."
Hanover converted 26-of-51 (51.0 percent) shots from the field while Anderson made 17-of-52 (32.7 percent) attempts from the floor.
"The rest of the story was we just couldn't get things going on offense. It was hard to get good shots, and when we did get them we missed too many of them."
The Panthers drained 19-of-25 (76 percent) attempts from the free-throw line while the Ravens made 5-of-12 (41.7 percent) shots from the charity stripe.
Hanover outrebounded Anderson 42-25.
Anderson knocked down 7-of-16 (43.8 percent) shots from 3-point range while Hanover hit 2-of-11 (18.2 percent) attempts from behind the arc.
Malik Laffoon recorded 10 points and two blocks.
Cade Gentry posted a career-high seven points. Riley Reutener contributed career-highs of four points, four rebounds and two assists.
"We had some good moments from two freshmen who have not received an abundance of playing time to this point in the season, but who have a bright future with our team in Riley and Cade."
Jalen Johnson tallied six points and a career-high five assists. J.D. Bembry scored six points. Knight contributed five points, four rebounds and two blocks. Michael Rogers produced three points and four rebounds. Austin Lyons turned in three points and Jake Gudorf rounded out the Anderson scoring effort with two points. Larry Johnson also blocked two shots.
Anderson faces off with Franklin College (15-7, 11-4) in HCAC action on Saturday at 3 p.m. in Franklin.
