"This is a nice recognition for Malik," Coach Owen Handy said. "He was dynamite in our two tournament games. He has been a consistent and reliable presence for four years, and has always played well on big moments. It was fun to see him play so well as his career was winding down."
During the tournament, Laffoon averaged 22.5 points while draining 16-of-22 (72.7 percent) shots from the field and 9-of-10 (90 percent) attempts from the free-throw line.
The fifth-seeded Ravens fought past fourth-seeded Bluffton University (15-11) with a 77-68 victory on Friday in Lexington, Ky. Laffoon contributed 18 points. The 6-foot-2 senior guard from Bloomington hit 6-of-9 (66.7 percent) shots from the floor 5-of-6 (83.3 percent) attempts from the charity stripe.
Top-seeded Transylvania University (19-8) pulled away from Anderson with eight minutes to go to secure a 92-84 victory in the HCAC Tournament semifinals on Saturday in Lexington. Laffoon poured in 27 points and collected three steals. He knocked down 10-of-13 (76.9 percent) shots from the floor and each of his four free-throw attempts.
