Anderson University baseball junior Tyler Smitherman has earned D3baseball.com Team-of-the-Week honors, which was announced on Wednesday.
During the week, Smitherman went 8-for-15 with a double, two home runs, six runs and 11 RBIs. Smitherman posted a .533 batting average and a 1.000 slugging percentage for the week. Anderson (4-4) completed a three-game sweep against St. Norbert College (0-3) during last weekend's series at Champions Park in Kokomo.
The Ravens rallied to an 11-4 victory in Game 1. Trailing the Green Knights 4-3 in the bottom of the seventh inning, Smitherman cranked his second homer of the day to put Anderson ahead 6-4. Smitherman went 5-for-5 with two jacks, six RBIs and three runs in Game 1.
In Game 2, Anderson turned in a record-setting performance with a 20-11 win. The Ravens totaled 24 hits, five homers and 46 total bases, each of which made the top 10 in Anderson school history. Smitherman finished 3-for-6 with a double, four RBIs and three runs.
In Game 3, the Ravens completed the sweep with a 6-2 victory. Smitherman added an RBI.
The Ravens face off with Westfield State University (0-2) in a doubleheader on Friday at 2:30 p.m. in Davenport, Fla. at Northeast Regional Park.
