November 12, 2019
Anderson University women's soccer standout Bailey Dornbusch (Troy, Ohio/Troy) was tabbed with first-team all-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) honors, which was announced by the conference on Tuesday. Morgan Reed (Haubstadt, Ind./Gibson Southern) also received all-HCAC Honorable Mention.
"It's great to see Bailey and Morgan be recognized by the conference and they are both well-deserving of the honors," Coach Jennifer Myhre said.
The Ravens closed out the season with a 10-3-4 record and a 4-2-3 conference record. Anderson's mark of three losses on the season in the fewest in school history.
Bailey Dornbusch (Troy, Ohio/Troy) started as a captain on the defensive line that limited opponents to 0.607 goals per match. The senior defender from Troy, Ohio was named to the all-HCAC second team as both a sophomore and a junior. Anderson's team goals against average leads the conference and ranks 34th in the nation. The Ravens allowed just 11 goals this year, which is the second fewest in school history.
Anderson posted eight shutouts on the season. The Ravens put together a shutout percentage of 0.471, which ranks second in the conference. Anderson also tied the school record of four consecutive shutouts during the season.
"Being selected to the first team is no easy feat and really reflects the respect other teams have for Bailey and the way she has anchored the backline over her time here. Bailey makes it hard to crack the defense as she tracks runs well, tackles hard and most importantly, battles to the end, giving 100 percent every day."
Morgan Reed (Haubstadt, Ind./Gibson Southern) led the Ravens with 15 points on seven goals and an assist. The senior midfielder from Haubstadt also paced the Ravens in goals. With three game-winning goals on the season, Reed is tied for third in the HCAC. Reed is a first-time all-HCAC recipient.
"Morgan was extremely dynamic in the midfield this season and brought a strong offensive presence. She really reads the game well, getting forward into the attack, and has great vision seeing the opportunities for early shots from distance. Morgan had numerous key goals this season, which was the spark that gave us new life in a lot of games."
