Fightin' Engineers Hold Off Ravens
Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology held off the Anderson University women's soccer team with a 2-1 victory during Wednesday's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) matchup at the AU Soccer Fields.

The Fightin' Engineers (12-4-1, 7-0-1) entered Wednesday's match ranked No. 6 in the latest United Soccer Coaches Great Lakes Region poll.

Jessica Wells put the Fightin' Engineers on the board in the 15th minute. Rose-Hulman went up 2-0 in the 34th minute when Sidney Hohl found the back of the net.

Taylor Baker (Springfield, Ohio/Central Catholic) delivered a goal (10-3-3, 4-2-2) for the Ravens in the 61st minute on a corner kick from Katie Essick (Harlem, Ga./Harlem). Rose-Hulman hung on to a 2-1 lead for the remainder of the match.

Essick contributed two shots on goal. Baker, Emily Stout (Grand Rapids, Mich./The Potter's House) and Hannah Planck (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) each registered shots on goal.

Planck led the Ravens with three shots. Essick and Morgan Reed (Haubstadt, Ind./Gibson Southern) each produced two shots while Baker, Stout and Nicole Miller (Richland, Mich./Gull Lake) added shots.

D'Anjrea Allen (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) started as goalkeeper in the first half and saved three of the five shots she faced. Elizabeth Graham (Riverside, Ohio/Carroll) came in at goalkeeper for the second half and saved the only shot she faced.

Rose-Hulman clinched the HCAC regular-season title with the win. Hanover College (9-5-2, 6-1-1) and Franklin College (6-11-1, 6-2) have also clinched spots in the HCAC Tournament. In the race for the fourth and final spot, Mount St. Joseph University (9-6-2, 5-2-1) has 16 points in the conference standings and Anderson has 14 points.

Anderson takes on Bluffton University (6-10-1, 3-4-1) in HCAC action for the regular-season finale on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Bluffton, Ohio. Mount St. Joseph clashes with Franklin in HCAC action on Saturday at 5 p.m. in Cincinnati. Anderson clinches an HCAC Tournament berth with an Anderson win and a Mount St. Joseph tie or loss.
