Ravens Blank Lions
The Anderson University women's soccer team blanked Mount St. Joseph University with a 3-0 victory during Saturday's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) matchup at the AU Soccer Fields.
Â
"[Saturday] was a great team win," Coach Jennifer Myhre said. "We defended well, played smart and made great shot decisions. We kept pressing hard and getting closer and closer as the first half wore down."
Â
Tori Baver (Garrett, Ind./Garrett) capitalized off a corner kick from Harper Manion (Lebanon, Ohio/Bishop Fenwick) 30 minutes into the match for the first score for the Ravens (8-1-2, 2-0-1).
Â
"Corners aren't always our strength and Tori has stepped in strong to given us a great offensive presence."
Â
The Ravens surged to a 3-0 lead after Morgan Reed (Haubstadt, Ind./Gibson Southern) netted goals in the 53rd minute and in the 85th minute.
Â
"Morgan is finding her sweet spot on those long-range goals and played a complete game."
Â
Reed turned four shots, including two shots on goal. Manion and Buchman each finished with three shots, including a shot on goal. Baver and Jessica Pulaski (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) each put their only shot on frame. Taylor Baker (Springfield, Ohio/Central Catholic) and Emily Albert (New Albany, Ind./Christian Academy of Indiana) each tallied shots.
Â
D'Anjrea Allen (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian), reigning HCAC Defensive Player of the Week, recorded her fifth shutout of the season and her third consecutive shutout. The senior goalkeeper from Indianapolis saved each of the six shots she faced.
Â
Anderson and Mount St. Joseph (5-5-2, 1-1-1) each put together 16 shots. The Lions held a 7-6 advantage in shots on goal.
Â
Anderson is scheduled for two HCAC matches next week. The Ravens battle Defiance College (4-9-1, 0-3) on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at the AU Soccer Fields. Anderson then hosts Franklin College (2-10-1, 2-1) for Senior Day and Homecoming on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the AU Soccer Fields.
