Anderson Battles to Draw with Hanover
The Anderson University women's soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw with Hanover College during Saturday's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) matchup in Hanover.
Â
Morgan Reed (Haubstadt, Ind./Gibson Southern) put the Ravens on the board in the 26th minute.
"[Saturday] was a hard-fought match and a well-deserved tie," Coach Jennifer Myhre said. "It was a key conference point and each game is essential as we get down to the final stretch. We talked before the game about taking early chances and that's what Morgan did. She's been dangerous when she gets the time and space outside of the box and went for it."
Â
Hanover (8-5-2, 5-1-1) outshot Anderson (10-2-3, 4-1-2) by a 19-7 margin. Both teams registered seven shots on goal each.
Â
The Ravens limited a tough Hanover team to one score in 110 minutes.
Â
"Once again, the backline battled well and I am proud of the way they deny chances and remain a strong unit."
Â
Maggie Day evened the score in the 32nd minute after netting a goal assisted by Josie Datillo.
Â
Anderson goalkeeper D'Anjrea Allen (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) saved six of the seven shots she faced.
Â
Sabrina Morrison (Bloomington, Ind./South) contributed two shots on goal. Hannah Planck (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) provided two shots, including a shot on goal. Reed, Jessica Pulaski (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville), Harper Manion (Lebanon, Ohio/Bishop Fenwick) and Kaitlyn Revell (Louisville, Ky./Assumption) also tallied shots on goal.
Â
The Ravens remain in a tight race for HCAC position. One week remains in the HCAC season and the top four teams qualify for the HCAC Tournament.
Â
Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (11-4-1, 6-0-1) leads the conference with 19 points. Tied for second with 16 points is Mount St. Joseph University (9-5-2, 5-1-1) and Hanover. Franklin College (5-11-1, 5-2) holds fourth with 15 points. Anderson is currently fifth with 14 points while Transylvania University (5-8-3, 3-2-2) sits in sixth with 11 points.
Â
