Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology outlasted the Anderson University women's soccer team by a score of 2-1 during Wednesday's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) match in Terre Haute.
Lauren Marquadt found the scoreboard first for Rose-Hulman (7-6-1, 6-0-1) as the Fightin' Engineers took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
Rebekah Fannin provided the equalizer to tie the game at 1-1 after Kennedy Hurst delivered a pass forward to set Fannin up with a 1-on-1 breakaway. Hurst received the assist.
Katie Choi turned in the decided goal for Rose-Hulman by finding the back of the net in the 73rd minute.
"We played hard and fought well," Coach Jennifer Myhre said. "Rose-Hulman is a well-organized team and as the game progressed, we gained more momentum and had more chances. Rebekah Fannin was continually making great runs forward and it was an awesome shot to tie it up and give us a chance."
Rose-Hulman outshot Anderson (6-7-2, 3-4) by a 19-7 margin and held an 11-3 advantage in shots on goal.
Fannin, Kylie Roberts and Caroline Hill each registered shots on goal. Emily Metzger, Hannah Thompson, Natalie Hay and Kyndall Ferguson each added shots for the Ravens. Adrienne Weyers saved nine (81.8 percent) of the 11 shots she faced.
Anderson battles Franklin College (5-7-2, 4-3) in HCAC action on Friday at 7 p.m. in Franklin.
