Anderson Continues Historic Start with Win against Defiance
The Anderson University women's soccer team continued its historic start with a 2-0 win against Defiance College during Wednesday's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) matchup at the AU Soccer Fields.

Anderson (9-1-2, 3-0-1), ranked No. 10 in the latest United Soccer Coaches (USC) Great Lakes Regional poll is off to its best 12-match start in school history. The Ravens have also shut out the last four opponents.

Katie Essick (Harlem, Ga./Harlem) found the back of the net in the 42nd minute to put the Ravens on the board. Hannah Planck (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) produced the assist. Taylor Baker (Springfield, Ohio/Central Catholic) capitalized off passes from Emily Buchman (Fishers, Ind./Fishers)Â and Planck to give the Ravens a two-score lead in the 71st minute. Planck finished the match with two assists.

Harper Manion (Lebanon, Ohio/Bishop Fenwick) recorded a team-high four shots on goal. Jessica Pulaski (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville), Buchman and Morgan Reed (Haubstadt, Ind./Gibson Southern) each turned in two shots on goal while Essick, Bailey Dornbusch (Troy, Ohio/Troy), Tori Baver (Garrett, Ind./Garrett), Planck, Baker and Tyller Leath (Fortville, Ind/Mount Vernon) added shots on target.

Manion registered six shots and Buchman produced five shots. Planck totaled three shots and Baker contributed three shots. Pulaski, Dornbusch, Baver and Reed each produced two shots while Essick, Emily Stout (Grand Rapids, Mich./The Potter's House) and Leath each put together shots.

Elizabeth Graham (Riverside, Ohio/Carroll) and D'Anjrea Allen (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) combined for a shutout. Allen came up with a save in the first half.

Anderson outshot Defiance (4-10-1, 0-4) by a 29-3 margin and held a 16-1 advantage in shots on goal.

The Ravens host Franklin College (3-10-1, 3-1) for Homecoming/Senior Day in HCAC action on Saturday at the AU Soccer Fields. Senior Day festivities begin at 12:30 p.m. and the match is slated for a 1 p.m. start.
