"[Wednesday] was an awesome team win and from the start came out with the mindset to attack and play simple across the field," Coach Jennifer Myhre said.
The Ravens (3-2, 3-2) got the game started right off the bat, taking just 3 minutes, 30 seconds after the starting whistle to find the back of the net. Kaitlyn Miller (Sunman, Ind./East Central) recorded her first collegiate goal for the Ravens to give the team a 1-0 lead over the Spartans (0-6, 0-6).
"Getting the early goal from Kaitlyn gave us the spark and momentum we needed, and she stepped up and had a great game. It set the tone for the rest of the match and was pleased with how we had great combinations and quick play building up to the other finishes, as well. This is a great result and proud of everyone for their impact."
Between the 17th minute and the 19th minute, the Ravens would score three goals, recording one goal per minute. In the 17th minute, Taylor Fort (Pendleton, Ind./Pendleton Heights) recorded her first goal of the game and her first career goal for the Ravens. Just over one minute later, Hannah Planck (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) delivered a goal off an assist from Fort. Then, at the 19-minute mark, Fort capitalized off a pass from Maggie Kolenic (Cleveland, Ohio/Newbury) to score her second goal of the game. Kolenic received the assist. With just over 19 minutes into the game, the Ravens led the Spartans 4-0.
The Ravens would have five more shots in the remainder of the half. Entering halftime, the Ravens led the Spartans 4-0.
Coming out of halftime, both teams would take their chance at goal. The Ravens would strike first in the second half.
