Hanover College took down the Anderson University women's soccer team 4-1 during Saturday's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) matchup in Hanover.
The Panthers (12-1-3, 8-0) entered Saturday's contest receiving votes in the latest United Soccer Coaches (USC) NCAA D-III national rankings and ranked No. 3 in the USC NCAA D-III Region VII rankings.
"We're disappointed with the result, but we couldn't be prouder of the girls' performance," Coach Petch Costa said. "They gave it their all and that's what matters the most. We'll regroup and come back stronger next week at home against Earlham."
Emily Wilusz contributed a goal for the Ravens (6-7-2, 3-4-1) in the 52nd minute. Kira Dashewich and Anhely Montes set up passes for the goal before Wilusz put the finishing move on the defender for the goal.
The Panthers outshot the Ravens 23-7 and held a 13-3 advantage in shots on goal.
Wilusz and Bekah Blair each tallied two shots and one shot on goal. Dashewich put her only shot on frame while Paige Tomallo and Lauren Brown added shots.
Adrienne Weyers saved eight of 12 shots she faced.
Anderson takes on Earlham College (3-9-2, 2-5-1) in HCAC action on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at Fridley Field. The Ravens clinch an HCAC Tournament berth with a win or tie.
