Trine Fights Past Anderson in Raven/Quaker Classic Finale
Trine University fought past the Anderson University men's soccer team with a 2-0 victory in a winner-take-all match on Saturday at the AU Soccer Fields.

"I was proud of how hard we fought [on Saturday]," Coach Scott Fridley said. "Trine is a very good side and well-coached."

The Thunder (2-0) captured first in the Raven/Quaker Classic with the win while the Ravens (1-1) garnered second.
Â
Trine went 13-3-2 last season and is the first of many tough matches Anderson has on the schedule this season.

"We play teams like this to get better. It will help us down the road."

Nooh Aljabaly was awarded a penalty kick 39 minutes into the match, but Caleb Oliver (Marion, Ind./Marion) came up with a clutch save.

Jared Cromwell delivered a cross to Bailey Zurface who finished the go-ahead goal for Trine 66 minutes into the match. The assist was credited to Cromwell.

Cedric Carbajal found the back of the net during the 80th minute after rebounding his own blocked shot.Â

Trine goalkeeper Taylor Medina recorded a shutout and came up with two saves.
The Thunder outshot the Ravens by a 22-8 margin.

Noah Keller (Mount Vernon, Ind./Mount Vernon) and Sam Rowlison (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) tallied shots on goal for the Ravens. Daniel Collins (Jamestown, Ind./Western Boone) totaled two shots while Keller, Derek Thorpe (Cicero, Ind./Hamilton Heights), Nick Martin (New Palestine, Ind./New Palestine), Rowlison, Regan Frost (Yorktown, Ind./Yorktown) and Malik Gayler (New Market, Ind./Southmont) also posted shots for Anderson.

Thorpe recorded a team-high three interceptions while Drew Sonnefeldt (Lisle, Ill./Lisle) paced the Ravens with three steals.

Oliver saved five of the seven shots he faced. Noah LaBelle (Rushsylvania, Ohio/Calvary Christian School) also recorded a defensive save.

"I thought the freshmen grew up a little this weekend and will just further their development. I like this team; it should be a fun year."

Anderson is slated for three matches next week. The Ravens begin with a road matchup against DePauw University (0-1) on Tuesday at 4 p.m. in Greencastle. Anderson then co-hosts the Raven/Spartan Classic at the AU Soccer Fields. The Ravens battle Olivet College (1-0) on Saturday at 2 p.m. Anderson then faces off with Spalding University (1-0-1) on Sunday at 2 p.m.
