Alma College fought past the Anderson University men's soccer team during the Raven/Spartan Classic with a 2-1 win on Saturday at Fridley Field.
"As I am disappointed with the result, Alma is a good team and well coached," Coach Scott Fridley said. "I'm disappointed I couldn't get the guys over the hump. I thought we could have a favorable result if they played a complete game for 90 minutes. We had moments where we did a lot of good things, but we did not have enough consistency across the board. I'm looking forward to [Sunday]."
Anderson also celebrated Parents Day on Saturday.
Alma (2-1) found the scoreboard as Toby Stauffer netted a goal in the 13th minute with Joe Rawlin on the assist.
Two minutes later, Jordan Bossman came up with a steal and fed the ball to Stephen Fite. Fite roped a shot and found the back of the net. Bossman was awarded an assist.
It was during the 73rd minute when the Scots broke the tie. Ethan Swartzentruber contributed the go-ahead goal with Christian Swies on the assist.
Usman Kamara put each of his three shots on frame. Fite produced three shots with two shots on goal. Bossman put both of his shots on target. Regan Frost tallied two shots and one shot on goal. R.J. Macomber put his only shot on frame. Cade Bell, Dalton Grubbs and Caleb Opoku each added a shot to round out Anderson's 14 shots.
