Earlham College took a 2-1 victory against the Anderson University men's soccer team during Wednesday's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) matchup in Richmond.
The Ravens (0-3, 0-3) outshot the Quakers (1-2, 1-2) by an 11-4 margin and held a 5-3 advantage in shots on goal.
"We let this one slip away with our inability to put balls in the goal," Coach Scott Fridley said. "We had many chances but just could finish things off. I was very proud of the hard work and the continued adapting to change as we try to find ourselves and figure out who we are. We will keep fighting and work to keep getting better."
Regan Frost (Yorktown, Ind./Yorktown) contributed a goal for the Ravens. The sophomore from Yorktown capitalized on a 1 vs. 2 breakaway set up by Wed Erny (Anderson, Ind./Anderson). Frost beat the goalkeeper and found the back of the net. Erny provided an assist.
"Wes Erny played a great ball to Regan Frost for the goal after stealing the ball from the defender."
Frost and Sam Rowlison (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) each turned in two shots and two shots on goal. Victor Silva (Paramount, Calif./St. Matthias Catholic) tallied two shots. Drew Vaughn (Beavercreek, Ohio/Beavercreek) registered a shot on goal while Erny and Drew Sonnefeldt (Lisle, Ill./Lisle) each added shots. Caleb Oliver (Marion, Ind./Marion) provided a save on three shots.
Anderson faces off with Bluffton University (0-2-1, 0-2-1) in HCAC action on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Macholtz Stadium.
"Looking for a win on Saturday to build some confidence. These are great guys trying to figure it out. We are getting better."
