"I am so proud of the boys working so hard to stick with things!" Coach Scott Fridley said. "Mount St. Joseph is a hard place to play and Coach Rudy always has his boys ready to play. We have struggled finding the goal all season. It felt like the frustration of the season came out of the boys [on Saturday]. I am very pleased with these fellas."
The Ravens (1-4-2, 1-4-2) came into the game looking for their first win of the season against the Lions (2-3-1, 2-3-1). In the first half, Regan Frost (Yorktown, Ind./Yorktown) got the action started in the 19th minute off an assist from Sam Rowlison (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern). Rowlison played the ball over the top of the Lions defense for Frost to run onto and take a one-touch shot past the goalkeeper to make it a 1-0 game. The Ravens immediately capitalized on their lead just two minutes later. A goal-kick from Danny Moro-Medina (Goshen, Ind./Goshen) made it to the 50-yard line, where Iley McQuiddy (West Chester, Ohio/Cincinnati Christian) was able to flick it on with a header up to R.J. Macomber (Marion, Ind./Marion) who out ran the Lions defense and took a one touch shot to give the Ravens a 2-0 lead in the 21st minute.
In the remainder of the first half, both teams had their opportunities but neither team was able to capitalize on their chances. The Ravens headed into halftime with a 2-0 lead over the Lions.
With the second half underway, the Ravens looked to capitalize on their lead. A foul by the Lions in the 54th minute gave the Ravens a penalty kick. Frost recorded his second goal of the day, capitalizing on the PK opportunity, giving the Ravens a 3-0 lead. Almost immediately after kick-off, Wes Erny (Anderson Ind./Anderson) got his name on the board with a shot from inside the 18-yard box. The Ravens led 4-0 in the 55th minute.
A pass from Frost to McQuiddy to the top of the 18-yard box in the 61st minute gave the Ravens their fifth goal of the game. McQuiddy was able to get a foot on it before the Lions goalkeeper got to it and placed it in the back of the net. The Ravens' sixth and final goal came in the 64th minute as Erny earned his second goal of the game. An assist from Matt Thompson (Greenfield, Ind./Mount Vernon) placed Erny within the 18-yard box in which Erny was able to turn with the ball and rip a shot into the upper part of the net. The Ravens led 6-0 with less than 26 minutes of play left.
Mount St. Joseph was able to end the Ravens shutout with two goals in the 67th and 87th minute. As the final whistle blew, the Ravens recorded a 6-2 victory, their first win of the 2020-21 season.
The Ravens ended the day with 19 shots, 13 on goal, while the Lions recorded 22 shots with 10 on goal. Anderson starting goalkeeper Moro-Medina recorded seven saves on the day. The sophomore from Goshen also tallied three intercepts.

"A very-injured Drew Vaughn continues to play well and led the team with 3 steals."
Recovering from injury, Noah LaBelle (Rushsylvania, Ohio/Homeschool) and Will Kult (Bloomington, Ind./Homeschool) got to see increased playing time on Saturday.
"We fought through a lot of injuries [on Saturday] and we are excited to have Labelle and Kult back in the lineup for even a short time."
The Ravens look to continue to improve their record as they now head to North Manchester to take on the Spartans of Manchester University (3-2, 3-2) on Wednesday. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
