Bluffton University stopped the Anderson University men's soccer team and its aggressive attack for a 3-1 victory during Saturday's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) matchup at Macholtz Stadium.
The Ravens (0-4, 0-4) outshot the Beavers (1-2-1, 1-2-1) by a 24-13 margin. Bluffton held an 8-6 advantage in shots on goal.
Drew Sonnefeldt (Lisle, Ill./Lisle) found the back of the net for the Ravens. Sam Rowlison (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) delivered the assist off a corner kick.
Wes Erny (Anderson, Ind./Anderson) put each of his four shots on target. Sonnefeldt contributed four shots and one shot on goal while Regan Frost (Yorktown, Ind./Yorktown) produced three shots and one shot on goal. R.J. Macomber (Marion, Ind./Marion) notched four shots, Victor Silva (Paramount, Calif./St. Matthias Catholic) turned in three shots and Caleb Gonser (Terre Haute, Ind./Terre Haute South) registered two shots. Drew Vaughn (Beavercreek, Ohio/Beavercreek), Rowlison, Grant Conklin (Lewisburg, Ohio/Troy Christian) and Stephen Fite (Cincinnati, Ohio/Homeschool) each added shots.
Caleb Oliver (Marion, Ind./Marion) saved four of the seven shots he faced. Vaughn also contributed a save for the Ravens. Danny Moro-Medina (Goshen, Ind./Goshen) relieved the final 21 minutes, 38 seconds in goal for the Ravens.
Anderson takes on Defiance College (2-1, 2-1) on Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Macholtz Stadium.
