Hanover College claimed a 4-1 win against the Anderson University men's soccer team during Saturday's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) matchup at Macholtz Stadium.
"[Saturday] was a beautiful day for soccer," Coach Scott Fridley said. "We are so blessed to be able to play this spring and get a part of a season in. I thought we were a little better [on Saturday]. We have really struggled with our midfield communication and defending. We are making things more difficult than necessary in the midfield."
Drew Sonnefeldt (Lisle, Ill./Lisle) netted a goal for the Ravens (0-2, 0-2). The senior from Lisle, Ill. put both of his shots on frame. Drew Vaughn (Beavercreek, Ohio/Beavercreek) assisted Sonnefeldt's goal. The freshman from Beavercreek, Ohio provided two shots and one shot on goal.
Regan Frost (Yorktown, Ind./Yorktown) registered three shots and one shot on frame. Victor Silva (Paramount, Calif./St. Matthias Catholic) tallied two shots.
Caleb Oliver (Marion, Ind./Marion) saved five of the nine shots he faced while Danny Moro-Medina (Goshen, Ind./Goshen) saved both of the shots he faced.
Frost and R.J. Macomber (Marion, Ind./Marion) created plays on offense while Brayden Humbert (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg) and Vaughn produced defensive contributions.
"I thought Regan was good again and R.J. had some moments before he got hurt. Drew Vaughn and Brayden are holding things down but have to do too many other things for our other players to keep players out of our goal. Hanover is well coached. You have to make them get out of their comfort zones."
Hanover (2-0, 2-0) outshot Anderson 20-9 and held an 11-4 advantage in shots on goal.
"Onto Earlham. We are a good team with a lot to learn about doing the little things right and keeping assignments. We will be better."
The Ravens take on Earlham College (0-2, 0-2) on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. in Richmond.
