The Anderson University women's basketball team shut down Eureka College with a 70-56 victory on Wednesday at O.C. Lewis Gymnasium.
"We have been battling some sickness this week and were limping to the break, but it feels a lot better heading out with a win," Coach Lindsay Shade said.
Anderson (3-6) converted 27-of-62 (43.5 percent) shots from the field and 9-of-26 (34.6 percent) attempts from 3-point range. Eureka was limited to a 26.7-percent (16-of-60) shooting percentage from the floor and a 23.1-percent (6-of-26) shooting clip from the perimeter.
"Defensively, this was probably our best performance. I thought we were much more urgent in finishing possessions by pursuing the defensive rebound."
Hanna Ault racked up career-highs of 19 points and nine assists. The sophomore from Pennville also provided four assists.
"Hanna was obviously a huge factor and it's not a coincidence that she had her best week of practice leading up to the game."
Payton Moore tallied 16 points. Lexi Dellinger produced nine points and matched her career high of eight assists. Mariah Clemons put together a career-high nine points. Hannah Hawkins finished with six points and two blocks. Kristin Dubois also added six points. Cassie Pallett recorded career-highs of five points and eight rebounds to round out the Anderson scoring effort.
The Ravens drew nine more fouls than the Red Devils. Eureka hit 18-of-25 (72 percent) shots from the free-throw line while Anderson made 7-of-9 (77.8 percent) attempts. The Ravens still managed to receive 20 points worth of bench scoring.
"Unfortunately, we were in foul trouble for much of the game, but I thought our bench really stepped up and made plays in key spots."
Anderson outrebounded Eureka 47-35.
The Ravens committed 18 turnovers while the Red Devils turned the ball over only 11 times. Eureka outscored Anderson 23-12 off turnovers.
Anderson hosts Kalamazoo College (2-6) on Dec. 30 at 7:30 p.m. in O.C. Lewis Gymnasium.
