Ravens Roll Past Fightin’ Engineers

The Anderson University Ravens (3-3) extended their winning streak to three with a 56-43 victory over the visiting Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers (0-2) inside the O.C. Lewis Gymnasium on Thursday, earning themselves another historic win. The last time the Ravens defeated Rose-Hulman was on Jan. 29, 2014 in a 58-54 victory. 

RECAP

• Rose-Hulman took a quick lead over the Ravens to start the game, building a 11-4 lead with 4 minutes, 28 seconds remaining in the first quarter.
• A layup by Lexi Dellinger started the comeback, the Ravens soon found themselves tied with the Fightin' Engineers 11-11 with 2:31 remaining in the first quarter. The 11-11 tie would mark the only tie throughout all four quarters.
• The Ravens would soon take the lead with a free throw from Dellinger, giving the Ravens a 12-11 lead. This would go on to be the only lead change of the game.
• Heading into the second quarter the Ravens led 16-13.
• The Ravens outscored the Fightin' Engineers 16-11 in the second quarter to head into halftime with a 32-24 lead.
• To start off the third quarter, the Ravens went on an 11-to-5 run, leading the Fightin' Engineers 43-29 with 7:02 remaining in the quarter.
• Going into the final quarter of play, the Ravens led 46-33.
• With 5:31 remaining on the clock, Lexi Dellinger hit a 3-pointer to give the Ravens a 54-35 lead. This 19-point lead marked the largest of the game for the Ravens.
• Rose-Hulman went on to make back-to-back-to-back layups, but it wasn't enough to make up for the deficit.

• The Ravens converted 21-of-49 (42.9 percent) shots from the field while the Fightin' Engineers made 18-of-49 (36.7 percent) attempts from the floor.
• 14 points came off the bench for the Ravens
• Lexi Dellinger once again led the Ravens to victory, recording 21 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal, and 2 blocks.
• Jade Shipley had 11 points for the day, as well as 1 rebound, 4 assists, and 1 steal.
• Hannah Hawkins helped keep the Ravens defense solid, recording 10 rebounds, 3 steals, and 4 blocks.

COACH LINDSAY SHADE'S COMMENTS

• Because of how both teams play defensively, this was one of those games we knew we would have to grind out. It certainly wasn't pretty, but we will take it.
• We did a great job on the boards and we were disciplined to defend without fouling. However, we settled for perimeter shots and turned it over too much. Hannah is too good offensively to only have two shot attempts. 
• It's going to be important for us to make some adjustments before we face them again on Saturday.
