Anderson Captures Overtime Victory against Rose-Hulman
The Anderson University women’s basketball team (10-10, 6-7) captured a 71-68 overtime victory against Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (10-10, 7-6) during Wednesday’s Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) matchup in Terre Haute.

This was such a great team win. It feels good to get a win on the road, especially in such a tight game. I'm proud of the squad and their efforts! Our bigs came to play, big shots were made and dubs were had. Stops were the key.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Rose-Hulman jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the first 4 minutes, 5 seconds. Jamie Baum scored five of Rose-Hulman's points.
- Anderson chipped away and took a 20-19 lead with 9:11 to go in the second quarter. In the opening minute of the second quarter, Lauren Smith hit a jumper and Sydney Sierota knocked down a 3-pointer to take the lead.
- The second quarter consisted of four lead changes and four ties. Both teams remained within four points for the entire quarter as the Fightin' Engineers entered halftime with a 40-38 lead.
- Anderson opened the third quarter to take a 45-40 lead with 7:08 left in the third quarter. The Fightin' Engineers responded with a 10-0 run to gain a 50-45 lead with 2:05 left in the third quarter. Rose-Hulman concluded the third quarter with a 53-50 advantage.
- Smith knocked down a 3-pointers with 3:53 left in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 56-all.
- Snapping a four-minute scoring drought, Mira Randolph hit a jump shot to put Rose-Hulman ahead 58-56 with 3:25 left in regulation.
- Smith even the game at 58-all with a pair of free throws. A pair of baskets from Grace Roland and Ashley Black put the Fightin' Engineers ahead 62-58 with 1:32 left in regulation.
- Izzy Davis took a steal back for a layup with 1:13 left in the fourth. Bella Larrison tied the game at 62-all with 25 seconds left in regulation.
- The Fightin' Engineers missed the go-ahead shot with one second go. Rose-Hulman stopped Anderson's inbound play at the buzzer to bring the game into overtime.
- Anderson and Rose-Hulman traded baskets twice. Sierota made a layup to give the Ravens the lead with 2:05 to go. Ella Turner came up with a block on the following possession.
- Ashley Black hit a jumper to even the score at 68-68 with 1:13 to go.
- The Ravens came up with two offensive boards and Turner went to the line with 35 seconds to go. Turner split her pair of free throws.
- Roland put up a 3-pointer with nine seconds, but Makynlee Taylor contested the shot and got the rebound.
- Taylor was fouled and was awarded two free throws. She missed the second free throw, but Davis got the free throw and she was fouled. Davis split her free throws to give the Ravens a 71-68 lead with five seconds to go. Rose-Hulman advanced the ball with a timeout.
- On the final possession, Black's 3-pointer came up empty and the Ravens sealed the victory.
