Moore Joins 1,000 Point Club, Anderson Powers Past Earlham

The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference contest saw senior Payton Moore write her name in the Anderson University record book as she became the ninth person in program history to record her 1000th career point as a Raven.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- From the opening basket by Anderson's Payton Moore, the Ravens led the Quakers the entire game.
- Anderson was off to a quick start, offensively and defensively, as they quickly went up on the Quakers. Earlham didn't get their first basket until 7 minutes, 23 seconds off a free throw. At this time, the Ravens led the Quakers 7-1.
- There was 4:50 left in the first quarter as Lexi Dellinger drained a 3-pointer to put Anderson up 15-1.
- Anderson ended the first quarter leading Earlham 23-8.
- The Ravens began the second quarter on a 9-0 run. With 7:30 remaining before halftime, the Ravens led the Quakers 32-8.
- Earlham slowly made baskets to cut the deficit some, but Anderson held onto a comfortable 43-27 lead heading into the locker rooms for halftime.
- The Ravens put up another big offensive and defensive quarter out of halftime, putting 19 points on the board and holding the Quakers to just eight.
- Heading into the fourth and final quarter, the Ravens led the Quakers 62-35.
- A 7-0 run for the Ravens began to quarter as the Quakers didn't make a basket until 6:46 remained on the clock.
- A jump shot by Allison Shaffer at 3:02 gave the Ravens a 39-point lead over the Quakers, the largest of the game as the scoreboard read 78-39.
- As the final horn blew, Anderson picked up a 90-47 victory over Earlham.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Ravens made 30-of-77 (39.0 percent) shots from the field, 8-of-30 (26.7 percent) attempts from three, and 12-of-16 (75 percent) shots free throws. The Quakers went 16-of-69 (23.2 percent), 5-of-22 (22.7 percent), and 10-of-17 (58.8 percent) respectively.
- Anderson caused Earlham to have 19 turnovers and picked up 18 points while the Quakers recorded eight points off the Ravens 12 turnovers.
- In the paint, the Ravens knocked in 34 points. Anderson also picked up 21 fastbreak points.
- Payton Moore recorded her 1000th career points as she ended the game with 22 points. Moore earned herself a double-double on the night with 18 rebounds, which ties for eighth for most rebounds in the single game in school history. She also added three steals and three blocks to the Ravens stats.
- Lexi Dellinger led the Ravens in points, picking up 25. Dellinger contributed eight rebounds, four assists, and two steals as well.
- Allison Shaffer came off the bench to provide 10 points, seven rebounds, one steal, and one block in the Ravens victory.
HEAD COACH JON GIN'S COMMENTS
- It's always tough getting a road win in the HCAC. Our team was able to battle through some adversity early and play a solid game.
- Our defensive effort was great and really set the tone for us. It allowed us to get out and run and play our pace.
- It was great to celebrate a huge accomplishment for Payton [Moore]! She means so much to this program and I'm really proud of her.
