Lions Top Ravens

The Anderson University women's basketball team (7-8, 3-5) fell to the Mount St. Joseph University Lions (13-2, 7-1) by a score of 80-55 during Saturday's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) matchup in O.C. Lewis Gymnasium.

COACH JON GIN'S COMMENTS

• It was a tale of two halves for us. We came out with a lot of fight and effort, but coming out of halftime we left all of that in the locker room. All season long, we've had trouble maintaining the same energy for 40 and it was the same thing [on Saturday].
• We have to be more consistent in our focus and effort moving forward. We have one more game before we make the turn [into the second half of the conference season]. I'm hoping we can right the ship and have a better go around the second time through.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Lions converted 29-of-53 (54.7 percent) on shots from the field, while Ravens hit 22-of-63 (34.9 percent) attempts from the floor.
• Mount St. Joseph went 11-of-16 (68.8 percent) on their free-throw attempts, while Anderson shot 8-of-19 (42.1 percent) on free throws.
• The Lions hit 11-of-25 (44.0 percent) shots from 3-point range, while the Ravens converted 3-of-16 (18.8 percent) attempts from the perimeter.
• Mount St. Joseph rolled to a 19-7 advantage in fast-break points.
• The Lions committed 28 turnovers to the Ravens' 17. The Ravens outscored the Lions 22-12 off turnovers.
• Anderson stole the ball 16 times throughout the game, while Mount St. Joseph gathered 10 steals. 
• The Lions controlled the rebounds, bringing in 47, compared to the Ravens' 26.
• Mount St. Joseph held a 19-3 assists advantage against the Ravens.
