The Anderson University women's basketball team collected a 54-42 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) victory against Earlham College on Saturday in Richmond.
Anderson (5-6, 1-3) locked down defensively and held Earlham (2-9, 1-3) to just 22.0-percent (13-of-59) shooting from the field. The Ravens knocked down 20-of-41 (48.8 percent) shots from the floor.
Anderson turned the ball over 24 times, which resulted in 19 Earlham points. However, Anderson scored 17 points off turnovers, despite the Quakers committing just 11 turnovers.
"This is a big conference road win for us," Coach Lindsay Shade said. "I am so proud of the defensive effort, focus, and intensity that we showed for the full 40 minutes. We had too many turnovers offensively, but we took care of business on the defensive side of the ball. This group is maturing and continuing to take steps forward on a daily basis."
Anderson outrebounded Earlham 40-30.
Lexi Dellinger led the Ravens with 21 points. Payton Moore recorded 17 points and nine rebounds. Carly Hackler contributed five points, Hanna Ault provided four points and Allie Owens turned in three points. Mariah Clemons and Cassie Pallett rounded out Anderson's scoring effort with two points apiece. Hannah Hawkins also racked up four blocks.
"We have such great depth in our rotation and, once again, everyone contributed in [Saturday's] win. It will be nice to have a day off and then we will begin to prepare for a scrappy Manchester team on Wednesday."
The Ravens host two HCAC matchups in O.C. Lewis Gymnasium next week. Anderson clashes with Manchester University (5-6, 2-2) on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. The Ravens then go head-to-head with Franklin College (7-3, 3-1) on Saturday at 1 p.m.
